Dejounte Murray
San Antonio Spurs point guard Dejounte Murray was a player that was reportedly gettable earlier in the offseason. Stuck in the middle, the Spurs are in a spot no NBA team wants to be. They aren’t good enough to contend, but they aren’t bad enough to land a top pick in the draft.
Most recently, Murray has been mentioned in trade packages heading to the Philadelphia 76ers centered around Ben Simmons. The Spurs were one of the teams the 76ers reportedly sent a trade offer to earlier this offseason.
Philadelphia asked for four first-round picks, multiple pick swaps, and young players in exchange for Simmons. It was a deal the Spurs, to no one’s surprise, turned down. But, it sounds like a deal between the teams will be difficult to pull off as Murray and Lonnie Walker IV don’t move the needle much for the 76ers.
Eventually, Murray will be someone the Spurs likely try to move. They will embrace a full teardown rebuild at some point, maybe once Gregg Popovich retires from head coaching. Once that day comes a player such as Murray could be traded.

For now, unless Daryl Morey and the 76ers have a chance of heart, Murray will remain the starting point guard for San Antonio.
