Los Angeles Clippers Receive: G Dennis Schroder
Boston Celtics Receive: F Nicolas Batum, LAC 2022 2nd Round Pick

When you evaluate the LA Clippers roster as a whole, it is hard to overlook the fact that Kawhi Leonard is going to miss a vast majority of the 2021-22 season. He is not going to be back before 2022 and may not begin on-court activities until sometime around the All-Star break in February 2022.

Keeping this in mind, the Clippers are going to need guys like Batum and Morris to step up at the forward positions alongside Paul George, but they could be willing to move one of their veteran players for another reliable backcourt talent to pair with Reggie Jackson.

Dennis Schroder signed a very small deal this offseason with Boston and while they could very well keep him in their backcourt all season long, as they look to make a deep playoff push, it is reasonable to believe that they will look to trade him at some point for more long-term value since Schroder is not a long-term asset for Boston.

While he has bounced around from team to team over the years, Schroder is still a valuable backcourt piece and could take a large chunk of the scoring load off the backs of Paul George and Reggie Jackson this season.

Plus, Schroder could be interested in joining the Clippers midseason in an effort to get some revenge on the Los Angeles Lakers for not keeping him long-term.

Having multiple trade exceptions that they could use to absorb Nicolas Batum’s salary for the season, the Boston Celtics definitely have the capability to target a key veteran frontcourt talent like Batum, and this roster may not be far off from contending against the likes of the Nets and Bucks in the Eastern Conference.

Boston did an excellent job of adding guys that can contribute right away in the offseason, but something is still missing on this roster. Nicolas Batum is in no way an All-Star-level or franchise-altering player, but he has been in the league for over 13-years now and can wear numerous hats for his team.

He is definitely a player the Boston Celtics should be wanting to target, but the LA Clippers may not be willing to let their veteran forward leave, especially with Kawhi Leonard being out.
