Does this trade make sense for the Brooklyn Nets?

When you look at the big picture for the Brooklyn Nets this season, they really do not have many overall weaknesses. Sure, Kyrie Irving being out definitely changes the way they will have to approach some teams in this league, but even with him out, this Nets team should be favored to beat at least 25 other teams in this league on any given night.

Their experienced roster and ability to score on any given position is so much more elite than the rest of the league right now and if they stay healthy, Brooklyn should still be the favorite to come out of the Eastern Conference.

Joe Harris struggled last season in the playoffs and while he is one of the better three-point shooters in the league, tightening things up defensively could prove to be more valuable for the Nets.

Myles Turner being the center in Brooklyn allows the Nets to play a little more freely and take some chances on the perimeter defensively, especially since there is a very high probability that Turner will end up blocking their opponent’s shot in the paint.

Adding Turner to this roster allows the Nets to play a little bit faster in transition and when you have guys like Kevin Durant and James Harden pushing the ball up the floor, there really is nothing an opposing team can do. They can foul these guys, but that is about it, because when Durant and Harden get going offensively, that is game over.

It is still a possibility that instead of Joe Harris, the Nets could look to move Kyrie Irving possibly for a player like Myles Turner, but as of right now, it seems like Irving will be staying put. Harris really is the one player on this roster that can be moved because of his contract and getting an upgrade at center in Turner really would not be that bad of an idea for Brooklyn.

Plus, they really would not have to worry about losing much three-point shooting depth because they added Patty Mills in the offseason, they would be adding Justin Holiday and that guy James Harden is a pretty good three-point shooting threat.

Whether they make this trade or not, the Brooklyn Nets are still the “team-to-beat” in the Eastern Conference entering the new season.
