Isaiah Joe has brought surprising results

Coming out of Arkansas in 2020, Isaiah Joe was not a talked-about prospect by many around the NBA, but Philadelphia really liked that potential they saw in the young shooting guard, which is why they drafted him 49th overall in the 2020 NBA Draft.

Being an offensive-minded player and scoring option on the perimeter has always made Joe an intriguing prospect and while he did not play much in his rookie campaign last year, he could wind up seeing an increase in minutes after some impressive performances this preseason.

In four preseason games with the Philadelphia 76ers, Isaiah Joe averaged 16.7 points, 2.3 rebounds, 1.8 steals, and shot 60% from the floor, 59.3% from three-point range. He has had at least two steals in all but one game he has played in this preseason and he led the team in both field goal and three-point shooting percentages.

In the 76ers’ win over the Brooklyn Nets in preseason hoops, Isaiah Joe started for the first time and he ended up scoring 20 points on 6-9 shooting from the floor, 5-7 shooting from three-point range.

“Isaiah is someone that I really think he has a chance,” Sixers All-Star Joel Embiid said. “You got someone that can handle the ball, can shoot the ball, can defend, I think he’s gonna be in the league for a long time. He’s gonna be really good so that’s something I’m excited about.”

This preseason, Isaiah Joe has shown the 76ers staff and other players what he can do and he is definitely gaining the respect of the locker room with his play. Joe is a guy that the 76ers can depend on and entering Year 2 in the league, he wants to make an impact with his team.

“It feels good,” Joe said in response to how he has been playing. “I think the position that I’m in, it’s about going into the game, being consistent, do what I do best, show that I can play both ends of the ball, and if I continue down this road, hopefully, it will lead me to success and that’s what we’re shooting for.”
