Golden State Warriors Receive: F/C Kristaps Porzingis, F Maxi Kleber
Dallas Mavericks Receive: F Andrew Wiggins, C James Wiseman
Seeing as Dallas and Golden State are kind of in the same “tier” in terms of contending in the Western Conference, the Mavericks may not be so keen on helping Golden State out by trading Porzingis to them, but at the same time, getting out of this contract is definitely favorable.
The Dallas Mavericks knew what they were getting themselves into when they traded for Porzingis from New York, but he just does not seem like the right fit next to Luka Doncic, which is surprising given Doncic’s abilities to make everyone else better.
With other big men to play around with in rotations, Dallas does not really need Porzingis to be a championship-contending team, hence why they could realistically look to trade him to the “highest bidder”.
Getting Andrew Wiggins and James Wiseman in return is definitely a step in the right direction for the Mavericks, even though they do not get an All-Star-level player in return in this trade. Wiggins is a former No. 1 overall pick that really came into his own on both ends of the court last season in Golden State and Wiseman is a young center with a lot of potential to grow for the future.

Coming into the league last season, many scouts were comparing James Wiseman to a young Chris Bosh and saying that he has All-Star potential, even though the 20-year-old center is still a very young and raw prospect. Both players on the Golden State Warriors are two guys who can contribute now and in the future for Dallas, hence why they could be interested in what may seem like a small price for Kristaps Porzingis.
As for the Warriors, at full strength, they will have their three-headed monster with Steph, Klay, and Draymond, but they are still missing that little extra bit of scoring. Andrew Wiggins could certainly be that No. 3 guy on this team when Klay Thompson returns, but Kristaps Porzingis really does fit their system perfectly.

He is a stretch big man that can not only be a factor defensively blocking shots in the paint, but also being a terrific option for pick-and-roll sets with guys like Steph Curry and Jordan Poole, who will be the primary ball-handlers in the backcourt for the Warriors this season.
