Best Trade Destination No. 2: Cleveland Cavaliers

The Cleveland Cavaliers were one of the more surprising teams on the list of Ben Simmons trade candidates. They are currently rebuilding themselves, so swinging a blockbuster trade would have come out of nowhere. But, they would be one of the better landing spots for Simmons.

The Cavaliers have some strong building blocks in place. Darius Garland is someone Simmons is close with and his playing style would mesh well with him. The presence of Evan Mobley, who was said to be a mix of Chris Bosh and Anthony Davis, is the exact kind of big man that Simmons needs to play alongside to thrive.

Cleveland does have some shortcomings offensively, such as with their 3-point shooting. It is something they would have to address following Simmons’ acquisition, but they would be set up well for the future.

The Cavaliers would have one of the best young cores in the NBA. Simmons wants to be considered the No. 1 option and of the teams on the list, the Cavaliers may be most accommodating to that request.
