Ben Simmons’ standoff continues

The 7-footer bought a $17.5M brand-new farmhouse in a gated Hidden Hills community outside of Los Angeles this summer and more recently, he put his $3.1M apartment at the Ritz-Carlton Residences up for sale. He has completely moved out of the city of Philadelphia, yet the 76ers still believe that they can get Simmons to return/report to the team before the start of the regular season.

Something tells me this is not going to happen…

This “cat-and-mouse” game between Ben Simmons and Sixers’ management has gone on long enough to this point and both sides are going to end up losing in the long run. At just 25-years-old, Simmons has a whole career ahead of him, one that could be filled with multiple All-Star appearances and Defensive Player of the Year accolades, but this situation with Philly may have destroyed all of this.

Mentally, Simmons does not seem ready for the start of the regular season and while he has probably been working out individually with his own trainers on the side, he is definitely not up to a team’s standards conditioning-wise to begin a new season.

LATEST NBA NEWS & RUMORS: NBA Scout Thinks Trail Blazers Should Go “All In” On Ben Simmons Trade

There is definitely going to be a concern for a team trading for Ben Simmons right now and is this really a risk that a team wants to take seeing as he is under contract through the 2024-25 season and is still owed just less than $150M through then?

And as for the Philadelphia 76ers, well they are the biggest losers right now because if they keep Ben Simmons to begin the season, then they will be playing a man down. He is not showing up to the team despite the fines he is receiving and even if he does show up, it seems crazy to believe that Ben Simmons will actually play in a game for the 76ers again after how they have treated him.

If the 76ers look to trade Simmons before the start of the regular season or during the first few weeks of the new season, then they will most definitely not get the value they have been searching for.

According to Shams Charania, the 76ers offered Ben Simmons to the Portland Trail Blazers for a package that consisted of three first-round picks and three first-round pick swaps that was obviously declined by the Trail Blazers.

Are you kidding me?

I appreciate the 76ers living up to the philosophy of “go big or go home,” but c’mon now… a total of six first-round picks for Ben Simmons?!?
