How This Trade Impacts Chicago Bulls
The Chicago Bulls revamped their backcourt this offseason. It started in the 2021 NBA Draft when they selected Illinois point guard Ayo Dosunmu in the second round.
Lonzo Ball was acquired from the New Orleans Pelicans in a sign-and-trade to be the team’s new starting point guard. Alex Caruso was signed away from the Los Angeles Lakers after that to be a combo guard off the bench.
With all of those additions, there may not be enough touches for Coby White to continue developing. If that is the case, they could try and flip him for assets elsewhere such as in this deal with the Dallas Mavericks.
Moses Brown gives them another young center with some upside that could learn from Nikola Vucevic. Trey Burke could fill White’s role as a scoring guard off the bench with the second unit.

Chicago could also try and negotiate to receive Tyrell Terry if they want a younger point guard in return or Josh Green, who could help on the wing. Their inclusions would likely change the draft compensation heading to Chicago.
In this hypothetical deal, the Bulls are acquiring a 2022 and 2024 second-round pick. Should Terry or Green be included, one or both of the draft picks could be taken out of the deal by Dallas.

The only real motivation Chicago would have to move on from White is to balance out the roster. They have good depth in the backcourt but could use some help on the wing.
