Houston Rockets Receive: G Goran Dragic
Toronto Raptors Receive: G Eric Gordon
If the Raptors do not view Goran Dragic as being an impactful, veteran player in their system and they do not want to buy him out of his contract, moving him for another veteran like Eric Gordon could make sense for Toronto. Their contracts do align with one another in terms of value and the Rockets are currently working on possibly trading Eric Gordon.
Since the start of the 2016-17 season, Gordon has been a key member of the Houston Rockets organization and has been instrumental in their success through the years.
Gordon was a fantastic role player next to James Harden for years and given his abilities to play on both ends of the court, Eric Gordon could be the perfect shooting guard/small-forward the Raptors need in their rotation for depth.
Seeing as Houston is in the process of looking for teams to take on some of their veteran’s contracts, it seems crazy to think that they would be interested in taking on Goran Dragic’s contract, but he is in the final year of his deal and the Rockets would be able to get out of the three years and $58.7M remaining in Gordon’s deal.

This is a lot of money for Toronto to invest themselves in over the next two to three seasons, as Gordon has a non-guaranteed clause for the 2023-24 year, but the veteran has proven himself in this league and could be one of the missing links on the bench for the Raptors.
Moving Dragic for Gordon really is a horizontal move for this franchise and in terms of value, the two players are about equal, but if the Raptors do not want Goran Dragic in their backcourt, then adding Eric Gordon on the wing could be the way to go.

Again, this is just a possibility for Toronto and there have been no talks between the two teams on a potential deal.
