Trading Goran Dragic to the Denver Nuggets is definitely a possible option for the Toronto Raptors, especially with Jamal Murray being out until some point in 2022. Murray suffered a torn left ACL last season in April and as a result, the only weak spot on the Nuggets’ roster right now lies in their backcourt.

Monte Morris, Facundo Campazzo, and rookie Nah’Shon “Bones” Hyland will all be competing for minutes, with veteran Austin Rivers as well, at the point guard position, but none of these guys can really have the impact Denver will need in order to compete for a championship.

Murray is not going to be ready to go until at least late February and he may not even be at 100% then, which is why bringing in another key point guard like Goran Dragic could make sense for the Nuggets.

He is experienced, he has been to the NBA Finals before and at 35-years-old, Dragic is still a key contributor who understands the game better than most guards in the league.

Next to Nikola Jokic, Michael Porter Jr., and others, Dragic could continue being a reliable passer and ball-handler, as well as a secondary scorer on the perimeter, which is everything Denver would be looking for.

This is a lot of value for the Nuggets to give up though, especially since both Green and Morris are two key bench players in their second unit.

Plus, Bol Bol is still a “work-in-progress” that Denver is really high on in terms of being Nikola Jokic’s backup. In terms of finances, this trade would keep the Nuggets below the tax line though, and give them the point guard they will need with Jamal Murray being out.

It is a deal that is balanced on both sides, but Denver probably is not looking to shake up their roster at this point.

Rolling with Campazzo and Morris as the Opening Night point guards seems to be the direction the Nuggets are moving in, but do not count out them being interested in a player like Goran Dragic should their backcourt struggled early on in the season.
