A new team that will need a new “Herro”

Looking at the Miami Heat’s roster this season compared to last season, there are just a few familiar faces. Only 11 of the 20 players on Miami’s training camp roster spent time on the Heat’s roster last season and only 7 of these 11 returning players played in more than 30 games with the team.

Kyle Lowry, P.J. Tucker, and Markieff Morris were the three biggest additions for Miami in the offseason and each of these guys will have a huge impact with this roster. Tucker and Morris bring championship experience with them to Miami, each winning a title in the last two seasons, and Kyle Lowry not only brings championship experience but plenty of All-Star experience with him to the Heat.

For the first time since the era of James, Wade, and Bosh, the Miami Heat have a “Big 3” with Butler, Adebayo and Lowry, making them a sure contender in the Eastern Conference. However, these stars are going to need to lean on the support of the rest of this team and while Duncan Robinson is going to hold a big role on the perimeter, Tyler Herro may have one of the most important roles on this team entering the season.

Between being a strong ball-handler and being able to score from multiple spots on the court, Herro truly is one of the more important players on this Heat roster entering the new season and this team is going to need the young guard to be locked in all season long if they are to contend for a title.

“I am ready for a bounce-back year,” Herro told The Miami Herald. “No question I feel like I had a lot of expectations coming into last season and some people are sleeping on me again. In that way, I am going to wake a lot of people up again like I did in the bubble in my first year.”

Just from the tone in his voice, it is very clear to see that Tyler Herro is not only excited for the new season but he is excited for the challenges that await him. If the Heat is to be true title contenders, they are going to need him to continue to improve not only on offense, but as an all-around contributor on the floor. Miami has high expectations for this season and as a result, the 2021-22 season could very well be a year in which Tyler Herro takes the next step in his career.
