Coming into the league as the 13th overall pick in 2019, Tyler Herro came to the Miami Heat with a lot of swagger and instantly became a fan favorite. Between being able to knock down three-point shots with Duncan Robinson to scoring 20-plus points off the bench, Herro had a great rookie season that was capped off by helping his team reach the NBA Finals.

In the NBA Bubble, Tyler Herro was instrumental in the Heat’s success and he even scored 37 points in a game against the Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference Finals. The Bubble was the rookie’s coming-out party and he really shined for his team there. Ultimately, the Heat came up short of winning a title, but Herro looked to be a key talent that could have a huge second season.

While he definitely improved in some areas, Tyler Herro did have his struggles last season not only being consistent on offense but also staying healthy. He played in just 54 games during the 2020-21 season and injuries seemed to be the main problem with Miami last year.

The Heat finished the regular season with a 40-32 record, finishing sixth in the Eastern Conference standings, but they ultimately got swept in the first round of the playoffs to the Milwaukee Bucks, who went on to win the NBA Finals.

LATEST NBA NEWS & RUMORS: 3 Trade Targets For Miami Heat Entering Training Camp

All offseason long, there was a lot of talk about Tyler Herro and if he could truly be a key force on this Miami Heat roster. He had a great rookie campaign and while he did look good at times during his second season, he really did not bring that “it” factor that the team needed him to have.

Trade rumors began popping up in regards to Herro and the Heat, but Miami’s front-office has believed in their young guard for years now and they still do. Miami is now expecting big things from Tyler Herro in Year 3 and while they have already opted into his team option for the final year of his contract in 2022-23 season, the 2021-22 season is going to be a big year for Herro to prove his worth to this team.
