Damian Lillard
There were a ton of NBA trade rumors circulating this offseason centered around Damian Lillard. The Portland Trail Blazers superstar point guard denied all of them, and to this point, he has remained true to his word. He has not requested a trade from the organization, but that could change depending on how the start of the season goes.
Portland needed a shake-up this offseason. They have lost in the first round of the playoffs four out of the last five years, and that was a major reason Terry Stotts isn’t returning as head coach.
Damian Lillard asked the front office to show some urgency in upgrading the roster and they didn’t respond. Tony Snell, Ben McLemore and Cody Zeller were the free-agent acquisitions. Norman Powell was re-signed and Larry Nance Jr. was acquired in a three-team deal with the Cleveland Cavaliers and Chicago Bulls.
The transactions the front office made would be enough of a reason for Lillard to request a trade. It is hard to envision a deeper playoff run coming as a result of the moves being made. If this team gets off to a rocky start, expect Damian Lillard trade rumors to heat up.
