San Antonio Spurs Receive: F/C Pascal Siakam
Toronto Raptors Receive: G Dejounte Murray, F Thaddeus Young, 2022 First-Round Pick 2024 First-Round Pick Swap
The San Antonio Spurs and Toronto Raptors are two teams that are figuring out what direction they want to go in. They are both in that gray area, as they aren’t bad enough to realistically land the No. 1 overall pick, but they aren’t good enough to be considered true contenders.
So, in this deal, they pick sides. The Spurs decide they want to try and remain competitive and make a run at the postseason, acquiring Pascal Siakam from the Raptors. Siakam made the All-Star team in 2020 and would give San Antonio a go-to player after losing DeMar DeRozan in free agency.
To acquire him, it will not be cheap. The biggest piece heading to Toronto is Dejounte Murray. He has shown improvement each season in the NBA and gives Toronto another younger player to add to their core.
Thaddeus Young is a versatile veteran that can slide into Siakam’s spot in the starting five or come off the bench as a combo big man. He is sought after by contending teams and could be flipped again.
