Shai Gilgeous-Alexander – Oklahoma City Thunder
Out of every player in the league that could wind up taking a big leap during the 2021-22 season, I am most excited to watch Shai Gilgeous-Alexander because he could very well end up being an All-Star this year.
The 23-year-old combo-guard is going to be the leader of the Thunder this season and if he can remain healthy, there is no doubt in my mind that he could end up solidifying himself as one of the better scorers in this league.
Last season, before his year was cut short due to a foot injury and the fact that the Thunder were not going to make the playoffs, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander was averaging 23.7 points, 4.7 rebounds, 5.9 assists and shooting 50.8% from the floor, 41.8% from three-point range. Sure, Oklahoma City may have been one of the worst teams in the league, but SGA was putting up All-Star-like numbers last year.
Entering the 2021-22 season fully healthy and having the third most experience out of any player on this Thunder roster, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is set to have a massive breakout season and he is my pick to win Most Improved Player.

He truly could be an All-Star this upcoming season and the Thunder are going to be looking to build around him for many years to come, which is why he could wind up having a monster year.
Over the years, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has constantly been improving on the court, but he has also been learning from guys like Chris Paul, Lou Williams, Dennis Schroder and Patrick Beverley, other guards who have a ton of experience in this league.
SGA has definitely learned something from each and every one of these guys, especially Chris Paul during the 2019-20 season, which is why he could realistically put it all together during the 2021-22 season.

Oklahoma City is going to wind up finishing near the bottom of the standings again since they are going to be dedicating time to developing their young core, but somebody is going to have to score and lead them on the court, which is why Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is going to be the biggest breakout star of the 2021-22 NBA season.
