D.J. Augustin – Houston Rockets
Compared to the first two names on this list, D.J. Augustin is definitely a less-value player for the Heat to potentially add, but trading Tyler Herro for him may not be a terrible idea.
With Victor Oladipo out to begin the season due to offseason quad surgery, Kyle Lowry is the only primary ball-handler on this team in the backcourt.
Jimmy Butler is definitely a facilitator and primary ball-handler for the Heat, but he is not a guard like Lowry and Herro. D.J. Augustin is going to be entering his 14th season in the NBA and is not only on a moveable contract in Houston, but he has always been a very reliable facilitator and playmaker for others.
For his career, Augustin has averaged 9.7 points, 4.1 assists, and has a career assist-to-turnover ratio of 2.66 assists to 1.0 turnovers. Plus, the veteran point guard has shot 37.9% from three-point range for his career, giving Miami another perimeter shooting threat off-the-ball.

Seeing as the Rockets are rebuilding and would be looking to move Augustin, they could definitely be willing to package him with a first-round draft pick in order to obtain Tyler Herro.
Through the 2028 NBA Draft, the Miami Heat currently have 8 total draft picks and they do not have a first-round pick until 2024. Moving Herro for a reliable, veteran contributor in their backcourt, as well as some “make-up” draft compensation may not be a terrible idea.

Given how high the Heat are on Tyler Herro’s potential for the future, they will most definitely not trade him for Augustin and a draft pick, but in terms of value and getting back some draft assets, moving Herro for Augustin does make some sense.
