2. Davis Bertans
The Washington Wizards signed Davis Bertans to a big contract extension last offseason, agreeing to a five-year, $80 million deal. Given his specific skill set as a 3-point sniper, there is a razor-thin margin of error. Unfortunately for Bertans and the Wizards, he wasn’t as elite as needed.
Bertans ended the season with the worst player efficiency rating in the NBA. He also had the fewest win shares per 48 minutes and the worst box plus/minus in his career. But, he could bounce back with a better supporting cast which the LA Clippers could provide.
Bertans is a 40.7 career shooter from the 3-point line, which is a great number for a stretch-4. The Wizards and Clippers could come together on a deal swapping snipers on long-term deals that can help balance out their respective rosters.
Washington would likely be better off moving on from Bertans with Kyle Kuzma and Rui Hachimura able to soak up minutes at power forward.
