How This Trade Impacts Chicago Bulls
The Chicago Bulls have made their intentions clear. They want to get back into the playoffs in the Eastern Conference and they have loaded up accordingly to do that.
While Lonzo Ball, Alex Caruso, and DeMar DeRozan will help the team win some games, they could use some more depth. They are a little shaky at small forward right now, especially when it comes to fit on the roster.
Billy Donovan will likely be deploying DeRozan or second-year player Patrick Williams as his starting small forward. DeRozan doesn’t have a fit in the lineup, as he isn’t a floor spacer and likely won’t have the ball in his hands a ton to facilitate with Ball and Zach LaVine handling that.
Adding a player such as Terrence Ross to the mix would help Donovan diversify his rotation. Ross is a spark plug off the bench and would provide instant offense for the Bulls. He has some peaks and valleys but provides the floor-spacing that the Bulls are desperate for.

Ross is a 36.7 percent career shooter from the 3-point line and has rounded out his game a little better in recent seasons. He averaged a career-high 2.3 assists per game last season as the ball was put in his hands more with injuries occurring and has the size to be a solid, versatile defender.
Adding him to the mix by just moving on the pieces they received in the three-team trade makes a lot of sense. Ross is a better fit for what they need than Derrick Jones Jr. is. While replenishing some of their draft capital would have been nice, Ross will help this team achieve their goal of making it back to the postseason.

His price could go up even higher should he play well again to start the season, so getting him sooner than later would be a smart move by Chicago.
