Does this trade make sense for Minnesota Timberwolves?

The Minnesota Timberwolves want Ben Simmons, and they are willing to get rid of D’Angelo Russell, Malik Beasley, and Jaden McDaniels to do so, which is why this trade makes complete sense for them.

These three players, along with three total first-round picks, is a lot of value to surrender. Still, at the same time, the Timberwolves would be adding another All-Star to their roster in Ben Simmons to pair with Anthony Edwards and Karl-Anthony Towns.

That is a really solid trio in the Western Conference, and with other talents on their roster in Patrick Beverley, Taurean Prince, Jaylen Nowell, Josh Okogie, and potentially Jarred Vanderbilt, should they re-sign him, this is suddenly a solid looking team that could contend for a playoff spot.

They would still be far away from being a title contender since their bench is low-tier. Still, overall, the Minnesota Timberwolves would finally be relevant again, which is all they want.

NBA TRADE NEWS: Latest Intel Surrounding Ben Simmons Amid NBA Trade Rumors

The Minnesota Timberwolves have made the playoffs just once since the 2004-05 season, and quite honestly, they are right next to the Kings for being the laughing stock of the league. Something good needs to happen to this franchise for them to take a step forward, which is why they need to trade for Ben Simmons.

Filling out the rest of their roster can be done, but it is not every day a two-way All-Star like Ben Simmons becomes available. He and Towns alone could be two All-Stars to elevate this team from “rock bottom,” and with Anthony Edwards as well, I really like the Timberwolves’ chance to become something special over the next few seasons.
