Does this trade make sense for New Orleans Pelicans?
Moving Brandon Ingram, Tomas Satoransky, and Wenyen Gabriel for D’Angelo Russell, Malik Beasley, a first-round pick, a first-round pick swap, and a second-round pick definitely is a lot of value for New Orleans to add now and in the future, but moving Brandon Ingram in general just doesn’t make much sense at this time.
The New Orleans Pelicans did a great job in the offseason of turning Lonzo Ball, Steven Adams, and Eric Bledsoe into more versatile and younger assets, so why would they give up on this now? Trading Ingram was definitely an idea that popped into the Pelicans’ front-office’s minds, but at the same time, they probably never had real intentions of trading him.
It is always refreshing to see what kind of value players on your roster hold league-wide, which is likely where these rumors of Ingram being on the trade block came from.
Both he and Zion Williamson and the future of this organization, and there is no reason why this team cannot finish as a playoff team in the Western Conference this upcoming year.
