Does this trade make sense for Minnesota Timberwolves?

Ben Simmons should be the main priority of the Minnesota Timberwolves, but a trade for him seems a little unlikely at this point. The 76ers do not want D’Angelo Russell, and just Malik Beasley and Jaden McDaniels is not enough value for the 3x All-Star, hence why they may not be able to acquire Simmons.

However, going after Jerami Grant is another strong move Minnesota can make that does make sense. Beasley and McDaniels are key talents in the Timberwolves’ rotations right now, but neither guy really makes a huge difference in them making the playoffs this year. Plus, the Timberwolves do have Jarred Vanderbilt at the power-forward position, who could be a solid back-up for Grant in their rotations.

Jaden McDaniels does have a lot of potential to turn into a special player in the frontcourt given his size and athleticism, but Jerami Grant is a win-now guy who can help elevate the Timberwolves to being a playoff team.

A starting rotation of Beverley, Russell, Edwards, Grant, and Towns is surely enough talent to get the Timberwolves to competing status in the Western Conference, which is why Jerami Grant is a smart trade target for them if they are willing to move on from the likes of both Beasley and McDaniels.

LATEST NBA NEWS: Latest Intel Surrounding Ben Simmons Amid NBA Trade Rumors

Minnesota still has open roster spots and moves to make this offseason, so we may not see them pursue anyone other than Ben Simmons right now in trade talks, but going after another high-level offensive threat is definitely something we could see them do near midseason.

If the Timberwolves want any chance of making the playoffs shortly, they have to be willing to take some risks, which is why sacrificing young assets for a key talent as Jerami Grant does, in fact, makes sense for Minnesota.
