Matthew Dellavedova – 2020-21 Team: Cleveland Cavaliers
Matthew Dellavedova finished off the final year of his contract with the Cleveland Cavaliers during the 2020-21 season and in July, he announced that he was going to be heading back to Australia to play in the NBL. Dellavedova signed with Melbourne United, but the 8-year NBA veteran has not closed the door on a potential NBA return.
“My goal is to get back to the NBA. I feel like I’ve got a lot more left in the tank, a lot of things to improve on,” Dellavedova said after making his decision to play in Australia.
For his career in the league, Matthew Dellavedova has averaged 5.5 points, 3.7 assists and has shot 36.4% from three-point range, but he really made a name for himself during the 2014-15 and 2015-16 seasons because of his defensive tenacity in the postseason.
With the Cavaliers, the veteran guard was always a pesty defender who always gave it his all on the court, which helped LeBron James and Cleveland win their first title in 2016. Dellavedova is good friends with LeBron, hence why he could wind up being an under-the-radar target for the Los Angeles Lakers at some point during the 2021-22 season.

Los Angeles has Westbrook, Nunn, and Rondo in their backcourt, as well as James being their primary ball-handler, so they may not need another point guard, but Dellavedova is pretty versatile in terms of being able to defend multiple positions on the perimeter.
He would not play much with the Lakers, but is an experienced, proven champion who could give them more depth and be a great locker room personality for this older team.
