Why Dallas Mavericks Are The Ideal Landing Spot
The Dallas Mavericks would be an ideal landing spot for Cleveland Cavaliers’ Collin Sexton for a few reasons: their head coach, Jason Kidd. Kidd is taking over for Rick Carlisle and is one of the best point guards in the NBA. He would provide invaluable insight into succeeding as a point guard, especially as a playmaker, in the league.
Also, Sexton is exactly the kind of player that Dallas has been looking to acquire this offseason. The team was on the lookout for a secondary ball-handler to play alongside Luka Doncic. There aren’t many coaches that would be able to provide that.
Sexton would check that box, and it would likely be a role that he excelled in. All of his shortcomings as a playmaker and initiator of the offense would be mitigated by the wizardry of Doncic.
Having another player capable of handling the ball and creating offense outside of Doncic would take the team’s offense to another level.

Too often, Doncic was the sole creator for the team, so this would take some pressure off of him. Enabling Doncic to play off the ball more would create easier opportunities for him to score as well.
Sexton is a legitimate three-level scorer that would give Dallas another player that can create at the end of games. The 42-point performance he had against the Brooklyn Nets’ Big 3 when he scored 22 points in the overtime periods is a prime example of the explosiveness he can provide.

The Alabama product could be the consistent scoring option Dallas needs alongside Doncic, as Kristaps Porzingis has fallen short of expectations, especially during the postseason.
