How This Trade Impacts Sacramento Kings
It’s clear that Buddy Hield’s days as a member of the Sacramento Kings are numbered. He’s been disgruntled on numerous occasions since signing his contract extension.
To add further complication to the situation, the Kings have since drafted not only Tyrese Haliburton but also Davion Mitchell. There just isn’t a need to pay big money to a player like Hield who is clearly not part of the Kings’ future plans.
The Kings nearly traded Hield to the Los Angeles Lakers before their focus shifted to landing Russell Westbrook from the Washington Wizards. The question remains…would it make sense for the Kings to move Hield for DeMar DeRozan?
If the Kings remain intent on playing a three-guard lineup, there would be legitimate overlap with DeMar DeRozan and Harrison Barnes at the four spot. If that’s the case, this trade wouldn’t be quite as helpful.

Now, if the Kings were to bring Mitchell off the bench to begin his NBA career, it would temporarily be fine from an overlap standpoint. Regardless, an eventual choice would be needed between Barnes and DeRozan unless if one were content coming off the bench.
