Does this trade make sense for Sacramento Kings?

As mentioned before, the Sacramento Kings have a plethora of big men on their roster and in fact, they have six players on their roster a part of their frontcourt, seven players if you count two-way rookie Neemias Queta.

The point is, Sacramento does not need Tristan Thompson and if they just acquired him to take on his contract for the year, they might as well pay just under $1M extra to bring in an experienced wing-like Jeremy Lamb who will play and contribute.

Lamb is still looking to get back to full speed after tearing his ACL in 2020, but he played well in the 36 games he played with the Pacers last year, averaging 10.1 points, 3.6 rebounds, and shooting 40.6% from three-point range.

Now entering his 10th season in the league, Jeremy Lamb could definitely contribute on and off-the-court for a younger Sacramento Kings team looking to finally turn things around and progress forward for once instead of backward.

Both Thompson and Lamb are players the Kings are not going to keep past this year and since they would be adding a 2022 2nd round pick from Miami via Indiana in this trade, there really is nothing that does not make sense for them. Their part of the trade is just Lamb and a 2nd round pick for Thompson straight up, so why not make this trade if you are the Sacramento Kings?

They have nothing to lose this season, as they will likely miss the playoffs for the 16th consecutive year and the Kings need more future assets anyways, so maybe having three second-round picks in 2022 now gives them an opportunity to turn these assets into another first-round pick in 2022 to draft a key, young asset for the future.

Quite honestly, every frontcourt player on the Kings roster other than Richaun Holmes is available to be traded, which is why the Sacramento Kings would be smart to get themselves involved with the Portland Trail Blazers and Indiana Pacers in this trade.
