Does this trade make sense for Indiana Pacers?

Moving Myles Turner and TJ Warren in the same trade early on in the season may not seem like it makes much sense, but CJ McCollum is a better offensive fit on this team than both Turner and Warren, plus the Indiana Pacers would be able to add a contributing big man at the expense of Jeremy Lamb and a second-round pick in 2022 from the Sacramento Kings. 

McCollum and Thompson joining this team actually are a solid amount of value for the Pacers to add to their roster and this trade makes Indiana a more complete basketball team. Right now, we can expect high-level play from both Malcolm Brogdon and Domantas Sabonis, but Caris LeVert, TJ Warren, and Myles Turner are big question marks right now. 

LeVert is a solid secondary talent who should be able to be a reliable scorer on the wing if he can stay on the court, but Warren is still recovering from foot surgery and Turner may have already reached his peak. The point is, both guys are replaceable in terms of what they bring to the table and CJ McCollum would provide enough offense to make up for losing both of these guys. 

One of the main reasons adding Tristan Thompson also makes sense is because the Indiana Pacers ranked 26th in the league last season in total rebounds per game. Thompson averaged 8.1 total rebounds per game last season and for his career, he has averaged 8.7 rebounds per game

. Indiana allowed way too many rebounds to their opponents last season and was not able to capitalize on second-chance opportunities, which is why adding Tristan Thompson to their rotation is more meaningful than it may appear. 

If they are looking to upgrade their talent at the expense of both Myles Turner and TJ Warren, bringing in CJ McCollum and Tristan Thompson is probably the best value the Pacers will get at this point, which is why this trade does make sense for them.

A backcourt of Malcolm Brogdon and CJ McCollum would surely be a high scoring duo and with Domantas Sabonis scoring underneath, this Pacers team could definitely surprise a lot of people around the league.
