3. Frank Vogel

It might be odd to see Frank Vogel on this list as he helped lead the Los Angeles Lakers to an NBA Championship in the Orlando Bubble in 2020. But, if the team struggles through another season as they did during the 2020-21 campaign, his seat could start heating up.

The Lakers followed up their championship season with a 42-30 season, which put them in seventh place in the Western Conference with a spot in the NBA Play-In Tournament. The Lakers defeated the Golden State Warriors in that game, earning the No. 7 seed.

Los Angeles was promptly defeated by the Phoenix Suns in the first round. An injury to Anthony Davis was too much to overcome for the Lakers. Injuries can’t be blamed on a single person, but if anyone is going to get fired because of it, it is the head coach.

Vogel has a strong roster this season in name power, but age is a legitimate concern. The Lakers put together one of the oldest rosters in NBA history, with eight players turning at least 33-years of age or older during the season.

Vogel will have his hands full managing those minutes so that the players are fresh for the season. If the Lakers fall short in the postseason again, Vogel’s seat will start heating up during the 2022 offseason.
