How This Trade Impacts Golden State Warriors
The Golden State Warriors haven’t made that big trade many expected them to. But, this trade wouldn’t deter that from happening. If anything, it will give them an even stronger package to offer should someone such as Bradley Beal become available.
Collin Sexton could become the new Andrew Wiggins in those trade talks as the deal’s centerpiece for salary matching. James Wiseman, Jonathan Kuminga, and Moses Moody would still be in play, along with any future first-round picks. The draft compensation acquired from the Cleveland Cavaliers in this hypothetical deal would also be on the table.
Trading Wiggins doesn’t deter the Warriors from making a bigger deal, which is partly why they would trade with the Cavaliers. They also remain competitive this season, as Sexton and Kevin Love can help them win some games.
Sexton is an explosive scorer who would help take some pressure off Stephen Curry, especially while Klay Thompson gets reacclimated to NBA basketball. His shortcomings in other playmaking areas would be mitigated with Curry and Draymond Green playing alongside him.

Sexton is limited as a defender given his size, but the effort is never an issue. That gives Steve Kerr at least something to work with defensively. Again, with two defensive aces in Thompson and Green, it can be mitigated.
Languishing away on Cavaliers teams that have done a lot of losing can take a toll on players. Landing with a contender could be what Love needs to get motivated again. He gives Golden State an established veteran to rely on in the frontcourt should the younger players show they need more time to develop.
