One of the first calls that should be made by the Brooklyn Nets to unload DeAndre Jordan is to the Boston Celtics. Trading Jordan, who is owed just under $10 million dollars, will not be easy, but Boston is one of the teams that can take on that contract.

The Celtics have multiple trade exceptions that they created this offseason from Kemba Walker, Tristan Thompson, and Evan Fournier. Depending on who the Nets take back in the deal if they take anyone back, the Celtics have a traded player exception that can cover it.

TPE cannot be combined, but Walker’s is worth over $5 million, Thompson’s is worth almost exactly what Jordan is owed and Fournier’s is worth over $17 million. So, they can absorb Jordan without sending a player back if they so choose.

The Celtics could use another big man on the roster with Thompson now on the Sacramento Kings. Robert Williams III and Enes Kanter will likely soak up a majority of the minutes at the center spot, with Al Horford providing some as well when he isn’t filling in at power forward.

Jordan would be a solid third center at the end of the bench, a veteran that Ime Udoka could call on in a pinch.
