Would this trade make sense for the Dallas Mavericks?
When a team is looking for a championship, they have to have the right pieces in place they want to be there. The Dallas Mavericks are looking to improve moving forward and they have to have everybody on board.
Luka Doncic recently signed his max extension, which means he is going to continue to be the centerpiece of Dallas for a long time. Now, it’s about winning at a high level to keep him around. There are valid questions about whether Kristaps Porzingis is a long-term answer as his co-star.
Tim Hardaway Jr. also signed a contract in free agency that will bring him back for four more years. The Mavericks have their pieces in place and good luck to get a return on Kristaps Porzingis.
Davis Bertans was delegated to a bench role in Washington and could do the same thing for Dallas. However, the main appeal of this NBA trade scenario would be Corey Kispert and the 2022 first-round pick swap. Adding more cost-controlled assets while moving off future salary is important with Luka Doncic’s supermax extension on the way.

The Mavericks will also get an experience ‘3-and-D’ option in Kentavious Caldwell-Pope coming off the bench. This is a move that would add great depth for a team looking to get to the postseason and beyond right away.
