Seeing as he could very well hold out until midseason to sign with a team, even though he has interest from several teams now, Paul Millsap ending up with the Brooklyn Nets seems like a real possibility.

There have been some rumors around the NBA that LaMarcus Aldridge could come out of retirement, in which case the Nets would likely look to bring him back, but there is also the possibility of Brooklyn adding Kevin Love.

The Cavaliers’ big man is entering the third year of a four year contract and is set to make $60.2M over the next two seasons, but Cleveland does not want to keep him on their roster much longer.

It does seem likely that the Cavs would be interested in a buyout, but nothing has been discussed and both Love and his agent, Jeff Schwartz of Excel Sports, do not want a buyout, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

If Brooklyn is not able to bring in Aldridge or Love by midseason and Paul Millsap is still available, the Nets will definitely be extremely interested in signing the veteran power-forward since they really do not have much of a frontcourt presence.

With Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving and James Harden, there are not many flaws on Brooklyn’s roster, but they do need more frontcourt talent, especially with Jeff Green departing for Denver. Paul Millsap could undoubtedly help in that regard.

Newly signed James Johnson, Blake Griffin and Nicolas Claxton are the only experienced big men on this roster entering the season, with rookie Day’Ron Sharpe possibly being an option. Adding Paul Millsap into the mix would bring some needed depth and provide different lineup combinations.

DeAndre Jordan is also on the Nets’ roster, but it is looking more and more likely that he will be bought out of the remaining $19.7M on his contract, especially if the Nets can get Paul Millsap in the process.
