Would this trade make sense for the Los Angeles Lakers?
The Los Angeles Lakers signed Marc Gasol to a two-year deal last offseason. There was much optimism about the impact he could provide after serving as an integral component of the Toronto Raptors’ 2019 championship run.
Gasol made a positive impact for the Lakers last season, but his role was diminished after the opportunity to sign Andre Drummond became a midseason development. While Drummond is now a member of the Philadelphia 76ers, there is still potential for a bit of a logjam at center.
There appears to be plans for the Lakers to involve Anthony Davis more at the center position next season along with LeBron James more at power forward. Spreading the floor out with Russell Westbrook at point guard will be important.
The Lakers managed to bring back Dwight Howard in free agency and he projects as being the primary backup big man for the team. There’s room to move on from Marc Gasol as a result. Perhaps Paul Millsap or LaMarcus Aldridge could be of interest?
