2. Dallas Mavericks

The Dallas Mavericks added a few pieces to their roster this offseason in Reggie Bullock and Sterling Brown. Both will bring some defensive versatility and excellent 3-point shooting, as both shot better than 40 percent last season.

While they will both offer upgrades in those areas, the Mavericks were looking for a secondary ball-handler to help out Luka Doncic. They have yet to fill that hole, but Kyle Anderson would present an interesting target to do that.

Many people have assumed that the secondary ball-handler and playmaker had to come in the form of a guard, but Anderson is a solid point forward. He has experience running and initiating offense and would help take pressure off of Doncic as the sole offensive creator in the lineup.

If Anderson’s 3-point shooting improvements are legitimate, he offers yet another floor spacer for the team to open things up in the middle of the court as well. While not at an elite level, he fills every need the Mavericks had coming into the season.

Making Doncic’s life easier is something the Mavericks should be looking to do. On an expiring deal, Anderson can do that for this season and if he plays well, they can retain him on a new deal. If it doesn’t work out, Anderson can leave in free agency with no harm, no foul.
