Toronto Raptors
The Toronto Raptors are figuring out the direction of their team. Long-time starting point guard Kyle Lowry departed for the Miami Heat in free agency, landing there via sign-and-trade.
Losing a player of that caliber always hurts, especially when they are the most decorated player in franchise history as Lowry was for Toronto. But, the Raptors are not left in as dire straits as some would presume.
Even without Lowry, the Raptors could be right back in the playoff picture rather quickly. They have a strong core of Fred VanVleet and Gary Trent Jr. in the backcourt, with OG Anunoby and Pascal Siakam in the frontcourt. The No. 4 overall pick was used on Florida State forward, Scottie Barnes, as well.
Adding a player of Christian Wood’s caliber to the center spot of that core could put the Raptors on the fast track to contending once again in the Eastern Conference. They would have multiple two-way players and not have a weakness in their starting five.

Wood would be an excellent fit in the Raptors’ lineup and presents an excellent target should they decide against rebuilding and go for it once again.
