Top Of The Line Defense

Last season the Miami Heat finished the season with the 7th best defensive rating in the NBA. Defense is something that the Heat pride themselves on, as they have finished in the top-11 of the NBA in defensive rating every season since the 2015-16 campaign.

The Heat culture that people talk about is real and it begins with setting the tone on the defensive end of the court. This season, their defense should be even better.

Adding Kyle Lowry and P.J. Tucker to the starting five will give Miami one of the best defensive starting lineups in the NBA. They are both elite defenders, joining two excellent defenders already in place in Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo.

Those four are more than enough to help cover up the deficiencies that Duncan Robinson has on that end of the court. If he continues improving defensively as he has in his career, the Heat would be even tougher to score on.

Victor Oladipo can also be a defensive ace when he is healthy. His return to the lineup would give Miami three legitimate stoppers on the perimeter to rely on when they are going up against the efficient offenses in the league.

Having a dominant defense to rely on will help the Heat win games and make them a legitimate contender for the NBA Finals this season.
