Would this trade make sense for the Portland Trail Blazers?

The San Antonio Spurs would be getting their next star to build around. The benefit for the team in a deal such as this one is clear. McCollum would bring a lot to the table and they would be able to hang onto other young options. San Antonio needs to do what it takes to return to the postseason.

The Spurs have been one of the best franchises in the league for over two decades now. They are in a bit of a transition phase and this has kept them out of the postseason for two years.

Gregg Popovich knows how to rebuild a team and will have to get the right players on the roster. This is a chance to land McCollum. He is a legitimate scorer that can get it done at all three levels.

He would join Dejounte Murray and Keldon Johnson as legitimate pieces moving forward that can get the Spurs back to where they want to be.
