Cedi Osman – Cleveland Cavaliers

The Cleveland Cavaliers have been one of the quietest teams during the 2021 offseason and that is because they really do not have the ability to make any moves. Re-signing Jarrett Allen was a must for them and they drafted Evan Mobley to pair with him, but the Cavs do not have virtually any cap space to play around with and nothing ever developed in terms of a potential sign-and-trade for Pelicans’ wing Josh Hart.

Finding a way to move on from Kevin Love is definitely at the top of the Cavaliers priority list, as is possibly extending Collin Sexton’s contract for the foreseeable future, but cutting some cap space could also be highly advantageous to this team.

Larry Nance Jr. could definitely be on the trade block with $20.3M remaining on his contract over the next two years, but so could Cedi Osman, who is owed $22.2M over the next three seasons, with the final year of his deal being non-guaranteed.

Entering his fifth season in the league with the Cavaliers, Osman has continued to improve as a scoring wing and last season, he averaged 10.4 points, 3.4 rebounds, 2.9 assists and shot 37.4% from the floor. For his career, Cedi Osman has shot 34.7% from three-point range, making him a possible buy-low candidate for several teams around the league looking to add wing depth.

Although, wing depth does not come cheap in today’s NBA and trading for a wing oftentimes comes at a higher price than other positions. The thing about Osman though is that the Cavaliers will likely be looking to cut some costs, which is why teams could possibly snag him at a discount.

Given that they are one of the youngest teams in the league and not really much of a playoff threat, the Cavaliers are going to be looking to continue building with their young talents and Cedi Osman could very well be a part of those plans in their second-unit. There are a lot of question marks surrounding what the Cavs will do with their roster this upcoming season and there is a lot of speculation that they could wind up having a “garage sale” near the trade deadline, meaning that Osman could be available for a low price.
