Will Damian Lillard Request A Trade?

The Portland Trail Blazers need to shake things up. Changing head coaches, as Terry Stotts is being replaced by Chauncey Billups, is not enough. The roster needs some adjustments, as well.

Trading away CJ McCollum would help balance out the roster, as the backcourt duo of McCollum and Damian Lillard seems to have reached its ceiling. While they are both dynamic scorers, they leave a lot to be desired on the defensive side of the ball.

There have been trade rumors circling about both this offseason, but Lillard has denied ever requesting for a trade. Despite him taking to social media and sharing that with anyone who will listen, there are still some outlets that believe he will ultimately ask for a trade.

Will that come before training camp so that he can land on a new team for the 2021-22 season? Should he ask for a trade, numerous teams will line up for his services. Lillard is a legitimate superstar and would turn plenty of teams into title contenders.

Portland likely won’t trade him on their own volition, but if he does ask for a trade, they should have no problems getting a package back that will keep them competitive even without their All-NBA point guard.
