Would this trade make sense for the Minnesota Timberwolves?
The Minnesota Timberwolves have struggled to find consistency and has been unable to get into the postseason. They have been a playoff team just once since drafting Karl-Anthony Towns with the first-overall pick in 2015.
Towns is obviously the biggest name that they could send away in a deal. He is one of the best big men in the league and would bring the best return. In this particular deal, Towns were not fit with the Lakers so Malik Beasley, or D’Angelo Russell, would have to be involved.
Beasley might not be a future piece for Minnesota and that is why he should be traded if possible. The starting backcourt long-term could be D’Angelo Russell and Anthony Edwards with Talen Horton-Tucker slotting in on the wing, or playing a small ball four role at times.
Horton-Tucker and Kendrick Nunn are young options that could stick around with the Timberwolves for years to come. That is what the franchise should be looking to build with Anthony Edwards at the forefront.
