The Los Angeles Lakers have been one of the best teams in the NBA over the last two years but they have not been shy about adding pieces when needed. That has continued this offseason and the front office might not be done just yet. The Minnesota Timberwolves could link up in a potential trade in hopes of retooling.

The Lakers pulled off one of the biggest blockbusters of the offseason when they acquire Russell Westbrook from the Washington Wizards. This gave Los Angeles the third leg of their big three.

Now, Los Angeles will continue to be favorites for the championship over the next couple years. When healthy, Westbrook will team up with LeBron James and Anthony Davis to build one of the best groups in the league.

On the complete opposite end is the Timberwolves. They have been near the bottom of the Western Conference for years now and there is no end in sight. Because of this, the front office has been rumored to be interested in blowing it up a bit this offseason.

To be perfectly clear, most of the Lakers’ supporting cast is unable to be included in a trade until the 90 day recently signed player restriction is lifted. This would be a hypothetical scenario that is predicated on Los Angeles making a move prior to the NBA trade deadline.

These two teams are heading in different directions but they could get together for a trade to help both sides. Let’s take a look at a potential trade between the Lakers and Timberwolves this offseason.
