Would this trade make sense for the Golden State Warriors?
The loss of Klay Thompson caused severe ramifications for Golden State over the last two years. Having Curry back this season got the Warriors to the play-in portion of the postseason but they were unable to win a game to advance further.
Thompson coming back means Golden State will look to contend in the Western Conference once again. The plan moving forward might not include Wiggins.
At the NBA trade deadline, the Warriors did not make any moves, even when Wiggins was thought to be a big piece. If there was going to be a trade made, Wiggins was going to be the player involved. That was not the case during the season and they could look to do so here.
In return, the Warriors will get another interesting guard in Derrick White. He would be a depth piece that gives them some scoring off the bench. Thaddeus Young is a veteran option that would be able to bring leadership and experience along with defensive versatility to a team looking to win a championship.

As long as Golden State has their backcourt in place, it is likely that they are going to be in contention. This trade is a low-risk move for the Warriors and could get them some pieces that help build even more depth on the bench.
