G Jaylen Morris – San Antonio Spurs Summer League

After going undrafted in 2017, Jaylen Morris has spent very limited time at the NBA-level and has looked to prove that he can still play at a high-level in Summer League. It’s clear to see that his time in the G-League and overseas has paid off because Morris looks like a guard who can contribute immediately in the league on a two-way contract.

The 6’5 guard has made the most of his time in Las Vegas and through four games with the San Antonio Spurs, he has averaged 16.0 points, 3.8 rebounds and has shot 62.5% from the floor, 50% from three-point range.

When the Spurs have needed a basket in Summer League, they have turned to Morris as one of the guys to help them offensively and he has not disappointed. Jaylen Morris has proven that he can still possession by possession, which is why he has drawn the attention of several teams during Summer League.

Scoring and playmaking is what you get with a guy like Jaylen Morris, which is what every team is looking for in their young guards today. At 25-years-old, turning 26 in September, Morris is still young enough where a team could look to take a chance on him.

It may not be more than a two-way contract, but Jaylen Morris has been one of the standout performers of NBA Summer League this year and it will be interesting to see how he closes things out with the Spurs.
