Would this trade make sense for the Memphis Grizzlies?
At first glance, you may ask why would the Grizzlies want to add Buddy Hield, especially given his large contract, but at the same time, it is obvious that Memphis has a need for shooters on the wing.
In today’s NBA, there is a lot of emphasis on three-point shooting and if you are not a strong three-point shooting team, you are going to have a tough time making the playoffs.
In fact, eight of the bottom ten teams in the league in three-point shooting last season ended up missing the playoffs, with the Lakers and Wizards being the only two exceptions. Memphis needs to get better out on the perimeter, which is why they could be interested in adding a guy like Buddy Hield.
Since joining the Kings during the 2016-17 season, Hield has shot 40.9% from three-point range and has averaged 17.3 points per game out on the wing. Pairing him with Ja Morant, a similar athletic guard like De’Aaron Fox, and Dillon Brooks, the Memphis Grizzlies would have a really strong scoring trio and that is not even all of their offensive talent on the roster!

They would still have their bench, which ranked sixth in the league in scoring last season, and Jaren Jackson Jr. Memphis is in a really strong spot as a franchise right now and if they want Buddy Hield, they can certainly get him before the start of next season.
Moving Patrick Beverley, a young talent in De’Anthony Melton and some draft picks is definitely a strong deal for the Grizzlies given their team’s needs.
