Zach Kleiman and the Grizzlies front-office are gearing up for something because they have been clearing up a lot of cap space for future NBA seasons.

Not only did Memphis find a way to move Jonas Valanciunas this offseason, but then they moved Eric Bledsoe, one of the guys they got back in this Valanciunas trade with New Orleans, for Patrick Beverley, Rajon Rondo and Daniel Oturu from Los Angeles.

Now, the Grizzlies sit at 17 guys on their roster for the 2021-22 season, so they are not done making moves this offseason. Beverley could very well be on the move again, as could Rondo, but overall, the Memphis Grizzlies have done a great job of preparing for the future.

By moving Bledsoe in this deal with the Clippers, the Grizzlies do take on an extra $3.6M in salaries this upcoming season, but next offseason, their early projection with the cap puts them roughly $30M under the salary cap, giving them the ability to potentially add another high-level talent to pair with Ja Morant for the foreseeable future.

If the Grizzlies do not want to wait a whole year to make a big move and they want to add more talent immediately, could they potentially look at a guy like Buddy Hield from the Kings?

Not only could he add a lot of perimeter shooting to their rotation, but he seems to be available for the right price, as Sacramento has gauged trade interest in Hield for months now.

The Sacramento Kings are always looking to change up their roster and with them wanting to move Hield, they could be inclined to get a deal done with the Grizzlies should Memphis show interest in the sharpshooting wing. Now, let’s take a look at what the Memphis Grizzlies could/would want to offer up for the Kings wing.
