Sacramento Kings Receive: C Moses Brown, DAL 2022 2nd Round Pick, DAL 2024 2nd Round Pick
Dallas Mavericks Receive: F Marvin Bagley III
This deal is definitely a step up from the Timberwolves offer in terms of talent the Kings receive back, but why would the Kings want to add another center?
Not only did they re-sign Richaun Holmes to a long-term deal, but Sacramento added Tristian Thompson via a three-team trade with Atlanta and Boston, they added Alex Len in free agency, brought in Neemias Queta via the draft and they guaranteed Damian Jones’ contract for next season.
Trading Bagley to the Mavericks for Brown and draft picks would give the Kings their sixth center on their roster, which would likely mean that the Kings would look to either move Moses Brown again or potentially move Thompson/Len around the NBA trade deadline. However, Moses Brown is a really solid young center that could be useful to the Kings.
In 43 games with the Thunder last season, Brown averaged 8.6 points and 8.9 rebounds, showing flashes of his double-double potential. Having this kind of aggressive, lengthy rebounder behind Holmes in their depth chart could definitely prove to be useful to the Kings, especially since Brown is only 21-years-old and only going to improve as a scorer as well.

Getting two future second-round picks from the Mavericks is also advantageous to the Kings instead of getting just one second-round pick from the Timberwolves in the previous trade package.
The Mavericks are still in the market to potentially get Lauri Markkanen, so they may not have immediate interest in Bagley, but they could still use another power-forward on their roster.
Maxi Kleber is their only true power-forward, even though they have Kristaps Porzingis, which is why beefing up their frontcourt with a guy like Marvin Bagley III makes sense for the Mavericks.

Bagley can score in the low-post and provide the Mavericks with second-chance opportunities, which is definitely a key for them with Luka Doncic, a guy teams do not want to give second chances to on offense.
