Minnesota Timberwolves Receive: F Marvin Bagley III

The Minnesota Timberwolves have been trying to improve as a team over the years, but they have found little success in terms of reaching the playoffs, much like the Kings. However, unlike the Kings, they have a really strong foundation in place with D’Angelo Russell, Anthony Edwards and Karl-Anthony Towns.

With the Western Conference declining this offseason in terms of overall talent, the Timberwolves definitely have a shot to sneak into the play-in tournament area during the 2021-22 season, but they need to add more frontcourt help.

Towns cannot do everything on his own and while they are high on second-year forward Jaden McDaniels, the Timberwolves could vastly improve by adding a guy like Marvin Bagley III.

Not only can he score in the low-post/paint, but Bagley has been a very consistent rebounder through his first three years in the league, averaging 7.5 rebounds. Over the course of last season, the Timberwolves ranked 20th in the league in rebounding, so they could immediately better themselves on that end of things by adding the Kings’ forward.

Sacramento is going to try and salvage a first-round pick for Marvin Bagley III in any trade discussions, but seeing as they could not get this at the NBA trade deadline this past season and could not get a first-round pick for Bagley before the draft, they are not going to be able to get one now.

The more the Kings wait, the more Bagley’s value continues to decrease, which is why they should be willing to settle for some young talent and a second-round pick or two.

While he has struggled early on in his career, Jarrett Culver was once the 6th pick in the draft and still has potential to work his way into a solid rotational player.

As for Juancho Hernangomez, he has shot 35.1% from three-point range over the course of his 5 years in the NBA, which could provide Sacramento with some much needed shooting depth in their frontcourt.

Hernangomez, Culver and a second-round pick is not what Kings fans would have in mind for a Marvin Bagley III trade, but at the end of the day, there is not much else they should really expect. Bagley is not a high-level player and is viewed as nothing more than a key talent/rotational guy, which is why the Kings should not expect much for him.
