Does this deal make sense for the Sacramento Kings?
With a loaded backcourt of young talent already with De’Aaron Fox, Tyrese Haliburton and rookie Davion Mitchell, as well as having Richaun Holmes under contract long-term now, the Kings seem to have everything they need to try and become relevant again, but they are missing that star-like player.
Ben Simmons is still a “work-in-progress” in terms of improving his offensive game, but given his size and athleticism, he still has a chance to turn into one of the better two-way players in the league.
Next to Fox, someone who can take on the role of being the primary scorer and ball-handler, Simmons could look to play more pick-and-roll basketball, as well as be a threat in transition, which is where he would likely thrive in Sacramento.
Moving on from Buddy Hield is something the Kings have been interested in for some time now and they not only tried to move him for Simmons already this offseason, but they were on the verge of having a deal done with the Lakers to send Hield to Los Angeles before the Lakers agreed to a deal with the Wizards for Russell Westbrook.

The same can be said about Marvin Bagley III, who is in the final year of his rookie contract and does not seem to be too happy with his current situation in Sacramento. The Kings have shown that they are willing to move on from both Hield and Bagley in order to get Simmons, but the 76ers have not wanted to acquire both of these guys.
Involving the Raptors to get the 76ers what they want potentially in order to give up Simmons is the way to go for Sacramento and may be the only way they can acquire Ben Simmons from Philadelphia. This deal absolutely makes sense for the Kings and by adding the 76ers’ 7-footer to their roster, Sacramento may be able to finally end their 15-year playoff drought.
