Toronto Raptors
The Toronto Raptors have a huge hole to fill in their backcourt with the departure of Kyle Lowry. Lowry ended up with the Miami Heat, signing a three-year, $90 million deal and being part of a sign-and-trade.
In that trade, the Raptors did receive Goran Dragic, but he doesn’t seem enamored with the idea of playing in Toronto. If that holds, the Raptors will need another guard to add to the backcourt mix.
Fred VanVleet will take over as the lead playmaker from Lowry with Gary Trent Jr. likely joining him in the backcourt. Malachi Flynn showed flashes as a rookie and is in for a bigger role as a sophomore. After passing on Jalen Suggs in favor of Scottie Barnes with the fourth pick in the 2021 NBA Draft, Toronto could use another guard on their depth chart.
Dante Exum would make for a worthwhile target. The Raptors done an excellent job in recent years developing players, something Exum could use. He has great potential but has been unable to realize it.

Standing 6’5” with a 6’9” wingspan, Exum has the size to play either backcourt spot, filling in the Raptors depth chart at both point guard and shooting guard. He would provide them insurance at both spots and some versatility in their backcourt.
