Does this trade make sense for the Charlotte Hornets?
The Charlotte Hornets have a plan and they are putting it into motion. They needed a big man and made a deal for Kai Jones in the draft. James Bouknight and Kelly Oubre Jr. are now in the mix, too.
That lineup around LaMelo Ball is now looking like one that could make a run to the series portion of the postseason. With the state of the Eastern Conference, Charlotte has a chance to make some noise.
Terry Rozier does not need to be a long-term piece anymore. His contract is coming to an end and the Hornets have enough depth to make a deal. This is exactly why they made that move to send Devonte’ Graham to the Pelicans in a sign-and-trade.
Now, the Hornets can add even more depth on the bench and some three-point ability. Luke Kennard has shown that he can get hot from beyond the arc. This is a valuable piece to have on the perimeter with the passing ability of Ball. He can get into the lane and find his teammates in the best position to score. Bringing in Terrence Mann and Rajon Rondo adds more reason to do a deal, too.

The Hornets have been building the backcourt and now they are young with some talented prospects. LaMelo Ball is a legitimate star and he showed that as a rookie. As he progresses, the Hornets are only going to get better. It is time to build around him and that is what this trade would accomplish.
