2. Miami Heat
The Miami Heat had an eventful offseason. They upgraded their roster in a big way, starting with the sign-and-trade for Kyle Lowry from the Toronto Raptors. P.J. Tucker was signed away from the Milwaukee Bucks as well, giving Miami two more championship experienced, hard-nosed veterans to help get them over the hump.
But, if there is one thing that they could use it is depth in the backcourt, specifically at point guard. Jimmy Butler is a capable playmaker, but Lowry and Gabe Vincent are the only point guards on the roster. Adding another one would be a good idea and Dennis Smith Jr. could be a cheap option.
Smith could slide in as the Heat’s third guard, providing spot minutes whenever needed. His scoring instincts and athleticism could provide a nice spark at times when the team is playing with low energy.
Also, joining the Heat culture is something that could do Smith some good in getting his game back on track. He showed some improvements with the Pistons but could use a good atmosphere to continue building on them.

The Heat could do worse for a third guard than a 24-year old former lottery pick that is motivated to keep his NBA career alive.
